Receiving Reservoir, Yorkville — F.B. Tower (1843)
Tower's plate showing the Croton Receiving Reservoir at Yorkville in upper Manhattan. This was the terminus of the 41-mile aqueduct — Croton water flowed here by gravity before being distributed to the city. The reservoir site later became part of Central Park's Great Lawn.
