McDonald Interviews

Between 1844 and 1851, the Hudson Valley chronicler John M. McDonald interviewed Westchester County's last living Revolutionary War veterans and recorded their testimony in a series of notebooks now held by the Westchester County Historical Society. In April 2026 we transcribed 232 of the highest-relevance interviews from the manuscript page images — totaling 131,056 words across 929 pages — and cross-read them against the published Teatown/Pines Bridge narratives to surface 156 original findings.
