During the same day, [ Wednesday, October 23,] Colonel Glover, commanding the Brigade of whom Brigadier-general James Clinton was the commander -- the same who had distinguished themselves on the preceding Friday -- sent out a party, mostly composed of men belonging to his own Regiment, to see what was to be seen and do what they could do. It is said that that Scouting-party met a body of the enemy and attacked it, killing, as has been already stated, twelve Hessians -- one of them a Field-officer, on horseback -- and taking three prisoners, besides the horse of the Officer who was killed ; with the loss of one man, of Colonel Baldwin's Regiment, who was mortally wounded.*
