Colonel Woodhull, of Suffolk, one of those who had opposed the motion, then moved, as an amendment of the motion, the addition of these words: " That we may be ready, if we shall think it neces- " sary, to communicate our sentiments upon thatsub- " ject to our Delegates at Philadelphia ;" which was subsequently adopted, without a division, in the following words : " Resolved, therefore, That, although " we would, by no means, presume to dictate to the " General Continental Congress, yet it is highly nec- " essary that this House be prepared to give our sen- " timents to our Delegates, in the said Congress,upon " such plan of accommodation."
