On the next day, the party set out much refreshed in good order, so as to arrive at Stantfort in the evening. They marched with great courage over that wearisome mountain, God affording extraordinary strength to the wounded some of whom were badly hurt ; and came in the afternoon to Stantfort after a march of two days and one night, with little rest. The English received our people in a very friendly manner,

Tuesday, T^ January 1648. Received a leter from Peter Stuyvesant written in New Amsterdam in New Folio 804. p. stuyvesaui. Netherland the 6"" October 1647, and with it some enclosures respecting the condition and state of affairs there. Which being considered, it is resolved and concluded hereby to request the Mess" van der Capellen tho Ryssel and the other their High Mightinesses' Deputies in the matter of the reform of the direction and management of the affairs relating to the West India Company, with what appertains to, and depends on, them, to inspect and examine the same and report thereupon.
