John M. McDonald interview — 1844
Daniel Edwards of West Farms (present-day Bronx County) begins this interview by discussing Tim Knapp and his theft of Loyalist Colonel James DeLancey’s horse, Goliah, as well as Knapp’s execution after he was captured by DeLancey’s men. Edwards also describes a few locations in present-day Bronx County.

235 115 Dennis Valentine contd PARIS three quarters of a mile south of Dennis Valentine's – just over the Ridge where No. 8. stood. From Fort Independence or a negro Fort (?) the chain of forts (1. 2. 3. &c ?) ran to the North River.
Daniel Edwards of West Farms: Knapp deserted from Delancey and came down afterwards – Staied in Burnet Jackett's swamp on Millett's Neck now belonging to Dr. Beach. Delancey's horse, Goliah, was kept for safety in a stable (formed in a haystack ?). Knapp very good looking. The horse was kept on Willett's Neck where Dominick Lynch and Olason afterwards lived. He was taken to Thomas Leggett's Barn on the hill below the village of [margin: So in nigh. p. 83.] 114.

236 116 Daniel Edwards contd 115. PARIS West Farms. Sunnon, the fiddler, put the rope across a strong piece of timber while Knapp was standing on a barrel. The barrel was then kicked away. (Knapp's observation to Delancey). The Block House was where the Post road now runs on the top of the rock, a little south of where the road turns off to go to the arched bridge. A party from above came down and burnt it. Thinks Garmore was taken at Alderman Leggett's about two miles below the village of West Farms on the west side of the Bronx. Robert Hunt's about a mile below the village of West Farms. Theophilus Hunt lived where Thomas and Robert Walker now live. 116
