Archer, Samuel

John M. McDonald interview — 1844

From the Westchester County Historical Society catalog:
Samuel Archer (b.c.1796) owned the land on which British Fort No. 8 was constructed in 1776. He notes that some remains of the fort are still visible. Archer notes that the area was called Fordham before John Archer received a patent for the Manor of Fordham in 1671, and that the title deeds for the manor have been lost.
