John M. McDonald interview — 1846-10-23

From the Westchester County Historical Society catalog:
The Coles family resided in Oyster Bay on Long Island. According to Joseph Coles, whaleboat men crossed the Long Island Sound to plunder and rob residents of that area. Frederick “Fade” Donaldson was among the most noted whaleboat men.

October 23d. Joseph Coles: I am from Oyster Bay where the whaleboat men plundered and robbed us in the Revolutionary war. Fredk. Donaldson was one of the most noted. They received comms. from New York and Connecticut and crossed Rye, Sawpitts and Horseneck &c.
