Andrew Corsa. 1844. Augt. 26.

Emmerick’s fortified house which appears to have been near and a little south of Fort Independence must have been Tetard’s House of which nothing now remains but the wine vault which is visible from the road. General Montgomery lived on his farm adjacent to Tetard’s for a long time. Delancey’s Bridge stood stood exactly where the stone (arched) bridge now is. Delancey’s Headquarters at Archers House were where Samuel Archer now lives, near Fort No.8. adjacent to Robert Morris’s. In ’76. Washington left Fort Independence so suddenly that he left all the cannon mounted in the Fort which were spiked.
