John M. McDonald interview
From the Westchester County Historical Society catalog:
Nathaniel B. Holmes (c.1796-1881) was the founding president of the Westchester County Savings Bank. He states his belief that British Major John André was captured on the west side of the Post Road in Tarrytown on September 23, 1780, and was examined by his three captors on the east side of the road. He notes that he heard this information from a Mr. Wildey, who owned the site where the capture occurred.

Nathaniel B. Holmes: “I have always understood that André was taken west of the road and south of the brook, and examined by the three captors on the east side of the highway. My information came from Mr. Wildey who owned the place of capture and was familiar with the whole transaction.”
