John M. McDonald interview — 1846

From the Westchester County Historical Society catalog:
These notes contain information regarding the brothers Jacobus, Abram and Michael Dyckman. They were apparently provided to John Macdonald by Jackson Odell, son of Westchester Guide John Odell. Abram Dyckman (also spelled Abraham), usually referred to as “Brom Dyckman,” served was a Westchester Guide and was mortally wounded in 1782. Michael Dyckman also served as a Westchester Guide. The three brothers were the sons of William Dyckman and Mary Tourneur Dyckman.

Jacobus Dyckman born Sept. 18, 1748, died Aug. 1832 Abram Dyckman born Aug. 25. 1754, died 9 March 1782 of wound he received on the 4th of March 1782 – buried at Crompond Presbyterian Burying ground. Michael Dyckman, born 9th Aug. 1756, died 1. Jany 1808, at Kingsbridge.

The Dyckman family formerly owned a great part of the land on the north end of York Island from Madame Jumel’s to Kingsbridge. – (Jackson Odell.)
