These notes appear to have been written by John English, the scribe who prepared this copy of the McDonald Interviews. He notes the different spellings that were used for some people and places by John Macdonald.

Honum (a Skinner leader), sometimes Honeham. Col. Green, sometimes Greene. Horton, sometimes Harton.
Robbins’ Mills, sometimes Robbings’ Mills.
Lauzun, written Lauzerne in 1st Note Book & Copy.
Brom. Barrett (means Abraham Barrett). Chappequa. This word, I think, left half blank in my copy of 1st Note Book.
Ossining. Do. Do.
The orthography in the originals is often incorrect – but I follow it.
The few blanks in the copy – such as dates, Christian names, &c. are blanks also in originals.
