1851. Thursday October 16th - Went with
John Vergent to White Plains, and took
board and lodgings at John Meads. Called upon Mrs. Gurney, Mrs. Elisha
Horton, Mrs. Sarah Halsted, Mrs. John Horton, Mr. Wm. Barker, and
then to Washington Tompkins at
Kenseto, where I spent the afternoon, &c. October 17th. - Called to see our old
servant black Betsey, at the County
Alms House, &c.

elevate, depress, or move it sideways at
pleasure and take a certain aim. It
carried large balls to a great distance. Some
times it was filled with buck shot or small
