Patrol received a report from a Croton resident who reported they received a spam phone call from 914-532-1694 someone reporting to be a Texas Police Officer. The unknown caller is described as possibly an adult male with an accent. The unknown caller told him they have a rental car in his name at the Texas Border and need their information. The resident realized it was a scam and hung up. When the unknown caller couldn't reach them they texted him from a different number 202-852-0819 saying if you don't answer the phone we will freeze all of your accounts. The caller put a watch / freeze on their credit to monitor any new activity and has had no financial loss. No report was filed.

Patrol was notified by a Croton resident on Warren Road who reported they discovered while conducting a personal credit report, a Capital One Auto Finance account opened on 06/22/2021 in the amount of $52,000.00 using their name. They did not open that account nor did he give anyone permission to open the account. They contacted Capital One and discovered that the account had been opened to purchase a 2019 Mercedes-Benz 300 series. At this time the caller has not had any financial loss. A report to be filed.
