LOCAL LAW INTRODUCTORY NO. 15 OF 2025
A LOCAL LAW TO AMEND CHAPTER 50, RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS, OF THE
CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF CROTON-ON-HUDSON TO CLARIFY THE
POSITIONS WHERE RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED
Be it enacted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson as follows:
Section 1. Section 50-1, Residency Within State, of the Code of the Village of Croton-on-
Hudson is hereby repealed and replaced as follows:
Residency Outside County
§ 50-1 Certain Village officers.
A. Pursuant to § 3-300, Subdivision 36, of the Village Law, it is hereby provided that the
following officers of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson need not reside within the
Village but may reside within the County of Westchester, an adjoining county or the
County of Dutchess:
1. Assistant Village Engineer.
Section 2. Section 50-2, Residency Within County, of the Code of the Village of Croton-on-
Hudson is hereby amended as follows (underlined text indicates new language):
§ 50-2 Certain Boards, Commissions and Village officers.
A. Pursuant to § 3-300, Subdivision 2, of the Village Law, it is hereby provided that the
following officers of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson need not reside within the
Village but may reside within the County of Westchester:
1. One member of the Visual Environment Board.
2. Village Historian.
3. Village Manager.
4. Village Clerk.
5. Village Treasurer.
6. Deputy Village Clerk.
7. Deputy Village Treasurer.
8. Court Clerk.
9. Assistant Court Clerk.
10. Assistant Court Clerk (Spanish Speaking).
11. Fire Inspector.
12. Code Enforcement Officer.
13. Village Engineer.
14. Building Inspector.
15. Assistant Building Inspector.

Section 3. Severability.
If any section, subsection, clause, phrase or other portion of this Local Law is, for any reason,
declared invalid, in whole or in part, by any court, agency, commission, legislative body or other
authority of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent portion. Such declaration shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
thereof, which other portions shall continue in full effect.
Section 4. Effective Date.
This local law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the New York State
Secretary of State in accordance with Section 27 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
