RE: Reservation of Parkland Fees
DATE: October 10, 2025
At its regularly scheduled meeting on September 2, 2025, the Planning Board discussed the
payment of a recreation fee in lieu of parkland, in accordance with section 230-123B of Village
Code for the construction of new buildings.
As currently written, the Planning Board has the authority to determine if an applicant should
pay a recreation fee, or not, for accessory cottages. The current recreation fee for a two-
bedroom accessory cottage is $8,000.00. There is no recreation fee considered for an
accessory apartment of the same size. In the interest of consistency for the accessory dwelling
unit applications, the Planning Board requests that the Village Board of Trustees revise the law
to exclude all accessory dwelling unit applications from having to pay the recreation fee.
Thank you.
