To: From: Date: October 29, 2025 Re: Proposed Legislation on VFBL Benefits The Croton Fire Council has requested that the Village Board of Trustees support the passage of proposed legislation (S.5432 / A.4610) that would raise weekly benefits for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers who sustain total or permanent disability in the line of duty. Currently, these volunteer first responders receive $400 per week in benefits and this amount has not increased since 1992. The legislation as proposed would raise this amount to $800 per week. A sample letter to Governor Hochul that was provided by the fire council has been included in the backup. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
