To: From: Date: October 8, 2026 Re: Future Road Safety Projects & Infrastructure I wanted to resume the conversation with the Village Board on the traffic improvements slated for Old Post Road North between Hunter Place and Michaels Lane. As a refresher, the Village Board allocated $50,000 in fiscal year 2025-2026 to undertake a traffic safety, which was completed by AKRF. The results of the study were presented to residents in the neighborhood via Zoom in January 2026. In the current fiscal year (2026-2027), $100,000 was allocated to fund the improvements presented in the plan. I would like confirmation from the Village Board that we should move forward with this project at this time. Additionally, the Village is getting ready to deploy additional speed signs that were authorized in the 2026-2027 capital budget. The speed signs are slated to be situated on Mount Airy Road (near King Street), Route 129 (before the Water Dept.), and Glengary Road. These signs will be in addition to the signs currently deployed on Cleveland Drive (near Park Ave.), North Riverside Avenue (between Farrington & Bank) and Maple Street (past Old Post Road South). Finally, the Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee has submitted a memo on a proposed daylighting policy for the Board’s consideration. The purpose of a daylighting policy is to provide improved sightlines at trouble intersections. For many of the trouble intersections in the Village, this would require the removal of parking spaces.
