Re:
Alternate Members for Land Use Boards
The Village Attorney has drafted a local law which would permit the Village Board of Trustees to
appoint an alternate member to the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the term of
one official year.
Occasionally, board members are unable to attend members or must recuse themselves from
considering a particular application. Adopting this local law would permit the mayor, with the consent
of the Board of Trustees, to appoint one alternate member to the Planning Board and to the Zoning
Board of Appeals to serve when a regular member is unable to do so.
Under this local law, alternate members would be subject to the same training requirements that
regular members must complete, as well as all other provisions of state law.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
