HVRC Announces Inaugural Award Recipients in the Mid-Hudson Region Newburgh (November 21, 2023) — The Hudson Valley Regional Council (HVRC) is pleased to recognize local municipalities doing extraordinary work in the Mid-Hudson Region in the areas of economic development, water quality planning, and clean energy and climate smart actions. Mid-Hudson municipalities were selected by HVRC for their various achievements. The 2023 Awardees are: Building Bridges Award - demonstrated a significant commitment to collaboration and partnership. • Hudson 7 Coalition: Dutchess and Ulster County, City of Poughkeepsie, Towns of Esopus, Hyde Park, Lloyd, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, and Village of Rhinebeck • Town of Philipstown & Village of Cold Spring • The Rivertowns: Villages of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow, and Tarrytown Climate Stalwart Award - recognition for sustained and exceptional contributions to climate action over an extended duration. • Town of Bethel • Village of Nyack • Village of Rhinebeck Commitment Award - exhibited exceptional dedication and productivity in a demanding environment and often times overcoming obstacles. • Town of Highlands • Town of Orangetown • Town of Rosendale Impact Award - honors a recipient whose project has been especially significant and has far- reaching environmental impact. • Village of Croton-on-Hudson • City of Kingston • City of Poughkeepsie Momentum Award - achieved notable milestones in a remarkably brief timeframe. • Town of Shandaken • Village of Warwick • City of White Plains Resilience Award - fosters community resilience through proactive initiatives. • Village of New Paltz • County of Westchester HVRC will host its inaugural Award Ceremony on December 6, 2023, in Newburgh. The event is sponsored by local Newburgh businesses including ADS Warehouse, Anna’s Restaurant, and Pizza Shop. We would also like to thank Orange County and SUNY Orange. The Hudson Valley Regional Council (HVRC) is an organization of county governments established in 1977 comprising Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. It is one of nine regional councils in the State and one of 650 regional planning and development boards in the country, that, in addition to providing a regional perspective, offer education & outreach, technical assistance, and advocacy to the communities they serve. HVRC delivers these services to its member counties as well as local governments through several federal and State grant programs, and Board Member County contributions: US Department of Commerce EDA’s Partnership Planning Program, NYS DEC 604(b) Water Quality Planning Program, NYSERDA CEC Program, and NYS DEC Climate Leadership Support Services Program. HVRC also provides regional platforms to our counties through the Materials Management Working Group and to regional sustainability partners through the Mid-Hudson Regional Sustainability Coalition.
