Re:
Referrals
At our meeting on 2/15, the RAC discussed the items referred to us by the BOT and submit
the following recommendations
●
Regarding the possibility of having outdoor recreational activities at Gouveia Park during
the short-term (next 12 months) - The RAC does not recommend any specific
programming organized by the Recreation Department, but suggests the installation of
portable bathrooms and garbage cans, and perhaps some additional picnic tables or
benches (if it can be done temporarily and at a low cost). Additionally, we suggest that
some language about the park be added to the Spring Recreation brochure (which is
currently in production) as well as some information be added to the village newsletter.
●
Regarding the possibility of amending the Village Code to permit dogs on-leash at
Gouveia Park - The RAC recommends amending the code to allow dogs on leash at
Gouveia. Along with this recommendation is the need for updated signage to remind
residents of the leash law and to pick up after dogs. Additionally, we had a long
discussion about making disposable waste bags available, and do not recommend doing
so at this time.
