At its regularly scheduled meeting on February 6th, 2024, the Planning Board of the Village of Croton-on-
Hudson reviewed the referral from the Village Board regarding Local Law Introductory 1 of 2024 to
amend and update provisions of Chapter 230, Zoning, of the Village Code.
The Planning Board suggested some changes in the wording, as follows:
A. Legislative intent and purpose. The purpose of this section is to allow and encourage non-solar
renewable energy systems that harness geothermal energy within residential and business districts
according to certain safeguards and conditions.

B. Geothermal Energy System – An energy system that uses heat or power from the earth’s core for
heating, cooling, or generating other types of energy.

from under the ground for heating, cooling, or generating other types of energy.
D. All borings and loops shall be set back at least 10 feet from the foundation of any structure.

of any structure, unless approved otherwise by the Village Engineer. This would allow for some
redection to some doundation like slab foundation for sheds.
