ZBA Meeting April 11, 2024
I ***CAUTION: External sender.*** I
To whom it may concern:
I am writing in opposition to Agenda Item 'c' under new business, April 11, 2024, the removal of a
condition of variance for Baked by Susan, to no longer have to purchase seven off street parking
permits. This was a condition of a previous variance granted in 2019. A variance many residents of
Harmon opposed due to ..... parking issues.
I live at 113 Benedict Boulevard on the corner of Benedict and Hastings avenue. I have repeatedly written
the village mayor, manager, and board of trustees asking for resident restricted parking in front of my
home on Hastings avenue. Sadly, I have been told to conduct and provide the results of my own survey
of residents on this block, something I have not found the time to do.
The north side of Hastings is resident only as is Young avenue, so the south side of Hastings is the closest
un-restricted parking to Riverside avenue. As part of my several complaints, I cited not only train station
commuters but also Baked by Susan employees that take up spaces in front of my residence of 20 years.
This is a quality of life issue. Limited parking for my family and friends is at the end of a long list. At the
top would be early morning arrivals with horns that honk when locked, lack of snow removal, lack of
street cleaning services, the occasional argument early in the morning, etc. On a few occasions, the DPW
has struggled to pass due to inconsiderate parking. Luckily we have not had an issue with ambulances or
fire trucks.
I respectfully ask that this waiver of a previously agreed term be denied. Instead, the current agreement
should be enforced.
Thank you
Christopher Walsh
