The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce Presents: CROTON-ON-HUDSON – 8th ANNUAL SCARECROW CONTEST THE SCARECROW CONTEST IS FUN & OPEN TO ALL CROTONITES! Entries by individuals, families, teams, schools, churches, clubs, organizations & businesses are welcome! The goal of this contest is to create a gallery of fun, inventive scarecrows throughout the Village. We are a Village that is becoming renowned for our Fall Festival spirit, so let’s add to that fun! HOW TO ENTER? 1) PICK UP YOUR SUIT TODAY (NOW) Drop off completed application below with $5 CASH for your Hazmat Suit (to make “dressing” up your scarecrow easy & sturdy) at the BHHS River Towns Real Estate Office - 133 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson (Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM). 2) CREATE YOUR SCARECROW! A- Scarecrows must be in standing/vertical position for easy attachment to a lamp posts. B– Must be sturdily constructed to withstand outdoor conditions (propose of hazmat suit) C– MUST include traditional straw and/or cornhusks. (Scoring Criteria) D- No electric, electronic or moving parts are allowed. E– Be Creative! Unique costumes, heroes, faces, & accessories are encouraged. (Scoring Criteria) 3) DROP OFF YOUR SCARECROW (Week of Oct. 7th) Drop off completed entry at the BHHS River Towns Office on Mon. Oct 7th thru Fri. October 11th (Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM) and we will take care of attaching to lamp posts. The Chamber and/or Village of Croton-on-Hudson reserves the right to NOT accept any Scarecrow that is deemed in anyway inappropriate. Scarecrow entries should be non-partisan/non-political, secular, appropriate for all ages, etc. SO, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Judges will determine Winners for EACH category: Kids&Families, Businesses&Org., & School Winners will be announced Thurs. Oct. 24th via social media: “Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber” & “Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices River Towns Real Estate” Facebook Pages. Please make sure we have valid Contact Information to claim your prize! 1st Place Prize: $50 Local Business Gift Card | 2nd Place Prize: $25 Local Business Gift Card The Chamber, The Village of Croton-on-Hudson, and their associated representatives are not responsible for Scarecrows once they are placed. Scarecrow items and props will NOT be saved. If you would like to personally remove your Scarecrow, please do so before Mon.
