Re:
Farmers Market
There has been some interest recently in trying to attract a farmers market vendor to the Village. The
Village last discussed this concept in 2020; however, we were unable to reach an immediate
agreement with the proposed vendor at that time and the pandemic put a halt to future discussions.
Amy MacNamara has reached out to Down to Earth Markets, who previously ran a market in the
Village about a decade ago, to get details about potentially restarting a farmers market. Some of the
pertinent information is below:
• The typical farmers market season runs from June to November each year.
• It is possible to have the market start in June 2026.
• The location is flexible but it must have access to restroom facilities.
• Some storage space for equipment is needed.
Down to Earth Markets would handle all communications with the vendors and ultimately select who
would attend our market. There is no cost to the Village for this; they would charge the vendors who
attend a fee. The Village would have an agreement with Down to Earth for use of our space and be
compensated accordingly.
The biggest obstacle to potentially having a regular market would be location. The Recreation
Advisory Committee weighed in on this topic in 2020 (letter attached) that would give the Village
Board some initial ideas.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the above. Thanks.
