See our response below. Village Concern: 3-day readings were in the summer and claims that noise travels further with cold weather than warm weather and in “leaf-off” condition. Our Response: Temperature Effects on Noise Propagation: Temperature can cause some bending of sound waves where in summer months sound can bend up and conversely in winter months sound waves can bend down. However, in this case the project site is so close to Metro North trainyard and rail lines that the effect of such sound bending is negligible. Impact of Vegetation (Leaf-Off Conditions): The trees and vegetation between the project site and the Metro-North rail yard are not deep enough to provide any meaningful attenuation. Therefore, we do not anticipate significant differences in noise levels between the summer measurements and potential winter conditions.
