On motion of TRUSTEE -, seconded by TRUSTEE -, the following resolution was
adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, New York
with the following vote:
Resolution #72-2025
WHEREAS, the New York State Village Law provides that volunteer fire company
and fire department elections take place in the month of April; and
WHEREAS, the Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and the fire
companies which make up the department conduct their elections in December; and
WHEREAS, Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg has introduced bill A7837 in the
State Assembly to authorize the elections to continue in December; and
WHEREAS, State Senator Peter Harckham has introduced companion bill S7201 in
the State Senate regarding same; and
WHEREAS, the Village is required to formally submit a home rule request to the
legislature,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Village Board of Trustees hereby
requests permission to have the elections for the Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire
Department and its associated fire companies take place in December; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that a copy of this home rule request be sent to State
Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg and State Senator Peter Harckham.
