Purple Heart Village
On November 4, 2013, the Village Board of Trustees adopted a resolution declaring Croton-on-
Hudson a “Purple Heart Village.” The Military Order of the Purple Heart has a movement to have all
communities declare their support for wounded veterans by adopting these resolutions. It is normal in
these communities to have signage signaling the declaration and support. However, for reasons
unknown, the Village has not erected signage announcing its status as a Purple Heart Village.
I have conferred with the Fox-Eklof American Legion Post 505 and they are supportive of the effort
to have signage erected. My recommendation is that two signs be purchased to be posted at our
welcome signs along Albany Post Road and Route 129. Below is an example of what the signage
would look like.
