CCAC MINUTES
TUESDAY, April 21st, 2026 7:45PM

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:45 pm ET in the Recreation Room. The
meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:00PM
MARCH MINUTES
The March minutes were approved unanimously.
QUIET, CLEAN, CROTON
● David Lowell of Quiet Clean Croton gave an introduction to his group and its mission to
ban gasoline powered leaf blowers and expressed his hopes for cooperation in the
future.
NRI UPDATE
● Madalyn reported that the consultants were still working on a final project, and that there
were no major updates since the last meeting.
At this time we were joined by Steve Krisky and Nora Nicholson
TRAILS
● David reported on two cleanups that occurred since the last meeting, and the next one is
planned for the 15th of April in conjunction with the boy scouts along Spencers Trail.
● Further cleanups are planned for the 30th of May & the 14th of June, with locations TBD.
● A Trails meeting is planned for May to plan further cleanups.
DARK SKIES
Jason is going to draft a memo based upon CCAC discussion to be circulated to the CCAC for
discussion and a final goal of a letter of recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
GARDEN CLUB
The first meeting of the growing season was on the 19th, where it was discovered that there is a
community/student garden effort at the Carrie R Tompkins Elementary school through attendees
of the showing of “The Extraordinary Caterpillar". This showing was also on the 19th, and was
attended by around 25 people.
CLEAN
● CLEAN engaged in a Clean up spanning 2 miles along Nine A, a stretch on Batten road
& the area behind Sav-More drugstore. During this they collected 750 Pounds of trash.
The next clean up is on the 25th at the train station
● Discussion was had about what could be done to prevent run off from Croton train
station parking lot being caught on the reeds or running into the water, since this is a
difficult area to clean properly.
MAYORS MONARCH PLEDGE
Shiloh had little to report due to the plot he intended to use being over-run with sewage and
runoff
EARTH DAY 2026
Vendors and Logistics
● The CCAC was not on a list of vendors, and so added themselves to the list.
● The vendor list had some unexpected attendees. The Mayor will discuss the list of
vendors with the Village Manager.
● Popcorn and water cups will be provided by the village’s Department of Recreation. The
Mayor is to let the village manager know about this plan and the request for compostable
material. Eva will confirm with Amy that the Village is creating a map of vendors and
communicating to vendors what is being provided for them at their booths/tables.
● John will bring in the Committee signs for the CCAC committee booths.
● Halle is to make pamphlets to recruit for ongoing volunteer efforts.
● The CCAC has signs in village storage and so has requested that they be found and
brought out to the event by the village.
● Eva will ask Amy to schedule the CCAC for 3 tables and 6 chairs.
● Shiloh will send PDFs of the National Parks guide and their own guide on planting native
pollinators to Eva Thaddeus to be forwarded and printed by the town for distribution
during Earth Day celebrations.
● The CCAC will set up an additional table for colouring and direct the teenager volunteers
to sit and watch the younger kids who attend.
● Sherry will send colouring book prints for printing and use as a kids activity.
● Amy will purchase Markers using CCAC funding for the table and print Sherry’s colouring
prints. Shiloh and Mark will also bring a supplemental supply of markers.
● David has a map of town trails to show at the event.
Music & Announcement
● The presentation of the Mayors Manis footbridge announcement time is TBD.
● The Hudson River Music festival is donating a pair of tickets to the upcoming music
festival to be raffled out.
● Raffle tickets & a large bowl will be donated by Steve Krisky of the planning board.
● Tickets will be handed out at the CCAC booth, and the winners will be announced near
the end of the event, and must be present to win.
● Music performers will begin with Rose Coehn, followed by School of Rock Briarcliff, and
finally Mario Giacalone who will play until the end of the event at four.
● The School of Rock is providing Soundsystems and setup for the soundsystem
themselves, for use by all performers
Tree Giveaway
● Nora Nicholson will donate her water and spigot to be a source of water for the Garden
Clubs tree giveaway
● John will create a signup via google forums and other software so people may reserve
their trees, but needs information about the trees first, likely provided by Eva, Sherry, or
Halle.
● Trees will not be given to the general public until later in the day, or when all reserved
trees are distributed.
● Eva will print guides for the planting of the trees to be handed out alongside them.
Publicity
● Nora and Shiloh will take the last two lawn signs to put up as they see fit.
● Flyers were distributed amongst businesses, Those undestributed flyers remaining were
to be distributed as follows

● The smaller banner advertising the event will be hung at the entrance to the train station,
and the larger one on the fence at the municipal building.
● Shiloh will ask around for some events for kids that can be set up in time for the event.
RAIN DATE
● Rain date necessity will be decided by the village. The rain date is the 9th of May
