To the Editor,
As chair of the Village of Croton on Hudson’s new HEART committee, I would like
to share a little about the committee and invite residents to submit nominations
for the HEART awards for the June 2024 – May 2025 award cycle.
HEART is an acronym for Help, Exemplify, Aid, Respect, Teach. The committee is
tasked with honoring a Croton resident, alive or deceased and/or a Croton
business or group for a total of two to three honorees per year. The committee
will focus on those in our community who quietly volunteer or take care of our
Village, helping to make this the Village we all love. The committee will hold two
or three small events per year for the purpose of honoring the individual or group
with an educational component specific to the honoree while encouraging
community participation.
Criteria: An honoree may be a resident, group, business, or businessperson in our
Village. Deceased honorees must be deceased for at least five years, and
politicians must be out of office for at least five years and being honored for work
outside of their political work.
We invite all residents and businesses to nominate a person, group, or business or
businessperson who you feel exemplifies the HEART of our Village.
The committee will review all nominees and choose two or three for our first
year. Multiple submissions for each honoree are not necessary.
Please submit your nomination by March 21, 2024, with their name, address,
contact information, and a brief but detailed description of why you think the
person, group, or business should be our Village’s honoree, along with your name,
address, and contact information to: crotonheart@gmail.com
Thank you. We look forward to honoring our fellow Crotonites with you!
Carolyn Whiting
