Memo dated May 22, 2026 from Superintendent of Public Works Frank Balbi recommending award of the Lawn Maintenance Program contract (Bid #04-2026) to sole bidder La Teja Contractors and Landscaping Inc. of Ossining, NY, at $70,170. The memo says the cost rose from previous years because the contract adds two months (April and November), requires electric or battery-operated leaf blowers at all locations, and adds the street islands adjacent to Gotwald Circle; funding would come from FY 26/27 account A7110.4000.

Re:
Lawn Maintenance
Bid # 04-2026 - Project Award
In order to assist the Department of Public Works with the maintenance of the Village lawns located in its fields,
parks and municipal properties, the Village of Croton maintains an annual Lawn Maintenance contract. While
DPW does maintain a portion of the lawns, the Village does not have the manpower or equipment required to
maintain the entire grassed area.
On April 30, 2026, the Village of Croton-on-Hudson advertised for invitations to bid on the Lawn
Maintenance Program contract (Bid # 04-2026). On May 18, 2026, one bid was received and publicly read.
The following result was returned:

$ 70,170
The sole bid was submitted by La Teja Contractors and Landscaping Inc., 240 North Highland Avenue,
Ossining, NY 10562. La Teja is the current contractor performing the work for the Village and has
always been responsive and prompt with their service.
The cost of the bid has increased from previous years for three reasons. The Village requested to have
the contractor work two additional months (April and November), the Village required the use of
electric or battery-operated leaf blowers at all locations and the Village added the street islands adjacent
to Gotwald Circle to the list of properties to maintain.
I recommend approving La Teja Contractors and Landscaping Inc.’s proposal for the Lawn
Maintenance Program contract for the amount of $ 70,170.00. If approved, funding for this project
will be budgeted in the following FY 26/27 operational account: A7110.4000
