Village Manager Healy, Mayor Pugh and Board of Trustees:
As outlined in a memorandum from NYS Division of Criminal Justice
Services that was released on November 10th , 2022 and pursuant to
Executive Law 846-h (1) (d) covered agencies must be certified by the Law
Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council (LEAAC) by October 2023.
Proof of all compliances needed to be submitted by June 26, 2023. The
office of Public Safety (OPS) staff, on behalf of LEAAC, has conducted an
assessment for our initial certification. To obtain the initial Mandatory
Certification our agency needed to be found in compliance with several
standards specifically Reporting Requirements and Standards & Hiring
Standards.
I am pleased to announce that this task was assigned to Sgt. Daniel Turner,
our lead Officer working on our accreditation program. With the assistance
of Det. Sgt. John Smith and myself, our Department has been found to be in
compliance with the above-mentioned standards. This is a critical step
towards becoming an Accredited Agency.
As always, thank you for your support.
Chief John H. Nikitopoulos
