Revolution on the Hudson Croton Point Park Saturday, November 9, 2024, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Revolution on the Hudson in Croton Point Park will be a free, one-day, family-friendly living history event to educate the public about the Revolutionary War period in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. The event will feature experienced re-enactors, crafts demonstrators, a petting-zoo, informational displays by non-profit historical societies and historic sites, food trucks, and other activities. We anticipate 800 to 1,000 attendees between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Because there are no timed events other than the opening welcome, we anticipate that most visitors will stay 1 to 1.5 hours. The event site will include twelve to sixteen staked historical tents on 10 x 10 foot areas for re-enactors and crafts demonstrators, four to eight 10 x 10 foot areas for historical societies who will bring their own tables, chairs, tents using weights only. There will be a petting zoo in a 10 x 20 foot area that will bring its own enclosures. There will also be an area for one to six horses, who will be hooked up to a thick rope between two trees. Historic muskets will be fired in controlled demonstrations, following NYS Parks safety protocols. Vendors/exhibitors will unload in the main lot beginning at 7 a.m. and pack up at the end of the day. Visitors will park in the main lot, which has 460+ spaces. There will be one to three food trucks. We will use onsite electricity, or a battery powered microphone, for the opening welcome with elected officials and any announcements. There will be no rain date. The event will be promoted with a statement that it will be cancelled in the event of severe weather and the RW250 website url (www.rw250.org) will be provided to check for a cancellation notice. The run of show will include: • 7 to 10:30 a.m. Arrival/set -up • 11 a.m. Open to general public • 11:30 a.m. Opening welcome • 4 p.m. Event ends • 4:15 p.m. Takedown begins • 6:30 p.m. Takedown completed • We are asking whether the County Parks Office can provide the following: • Special permission to stake 8 to 10 historical tents • Police coverage, if necessary • Emergency medical coverage, if it is necessary to have an ambulance stationed at the park during the event • Electricity for a microphone (though a battery powered microphone is also an option) • Port-a-Potties • Information/forms for necessary permits such as for o Tents (we understand stakes are not normally permitted) o Food Truck approvals/Health Dept. signoff o Any other required permits
