1 Van Wyck Street
Croton on Hudson, NY 10520
The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, along with Chamber’s Croton Business
Council, is requesting to once again conduct a Scarecrow Contest in the Village of Croton to
correspond with the Blaze Event at Van Cortlandt Manor and the Village’s Fall Festival and
Oktoberfest. The contest will take place during the last week of September through the month of
October. We are writing to you for permission to hold this contest in the Village.
All scarecrows will be affixed to the lampposts in the Upper Village and potentially the Harmon
section if we receive enough participation. Entries by individuals, families, teams, schools,
churches, clubs, organizations, and businesses are welcomed. Winner(s) will be announced via
social media on Oct. 20th. All scarecrows will be removed after Halloween.
All scarecrows will be checked in at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices River Towns Real
Estate on Grand Street. We will not accept any scarecrow deemed inappropriate. All designs
must be non-partisan/non-political, and secular. All scarecrows must be appropriate for all ages,
etc.
