Subject: CFD Annual Fire Fair - Sunday, October 2nd
Manager Healy,
As you might be aware, the Croton FD has for many years held an annual Fire Fair to further our
fire prevention outreach to our community.
We would like to formally invite yourself and the members of the Village board to this year's Fire Fair.
It will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, tentatively scheduled from 1PM to 5PM, at the Harmon
Firehouse.
On a logistics side of things, there are a couple of items I'd like to ask of you:
1) Permission to request "No Parking" signs from CPD for the parking lot behind the Harmon
Firehouse, for the alleyway at the Harmon Firehouse, for the section of Wayne Street between
Benedict Blvd and Clinton Street, as well as the section of Benedict Blvd between South Riverside
Ave and the dead end adjacent to Wayne Street.
2) Permission to close the following from 7AM to 7PM on October 2nd:
a) Wayne Street from Benedict Blvd to Clinton Street, for pedestrian safety for some outdoor
activities.
b) The parking lot behind Harmon Firehouse, for additional outdoor activities, such as fire
extinguisher use demonstrations.
c) The Alleyway at the Harmon Firehouse, for additional outdoor activities, including grilling free
hotdogs donated by Shop Rite for all of those in attendance.
We would also like to continue our tradition of rewarding the kids for successfully completing all of
the Fire Prevention safety activities, with rides on our fire apparatus, along Benedict Blvd., with
some moderate use of lights and sirens for the enjoyment of the children. As always, we will be
providing one member in addition to the apparatus driver to sit in the back with the children to
monitor their safety and make sure they are safely seated and buckled in at all times the
apparatus is in motion. Drivers will of course follow all vehicle and traffic laws.
We will also be in touch with more formal communication to the public that we'd like to use to
promote the event in the Village newsletter, Village social media and on the Public Access TV
channel.
Last, could you please provide me with CPD Chief Nikotopolous's email address, so that we can
formally invite CPD to participate in the event with a table and/ or vehicle display, if they so
choose.
We have already invited our colleagues at Croton EMS to participate.
Do you think that any of the other Village Departments, like DPW, Recreation or Engineering
might want to have a table and/ or demonstration that would be related to public safety?
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
