TO: Bryan Healy FROM: Len Simon SUBJECT: Project MOVER Bike Share Hub Tour Summary DATE: March 12, 2025 _____________________________________________________________________________ Here’s a quick recap of yesterday’s Project MOVER Bike Share Hub tour. I was joined by: (1) Police Chief John Nikitopoulos; (2) DPW General Foreman Scott Marsh; (3) Riley Moeller, Croton E-Bikes; (4) Steve Bratspis, Shared Mobility; and (5) Bert Aquin, Drop Mobility (runs the Ossining program). It was of great value to have the Chief and Scott with us. The Chief focused on the safety of each hub, while Scott concentrated on any preparations DPW would need to do. Riley’s knowledge of bike use in Croton was very helpful. Here’s what we learned and any next steps. Hub Site Notes Croton Library We were joined by Executive Director Jesse Bourdon. We all concurred that the hub should be located on the grass near the front lawn walkway. Metro North Agreement that the sidewalk between the station and the former healthy shake shop is the best location. Shared Mobility is in contact with MTA and will follow-up. Vassallo Park To avoid removing parking spots, the grassy area to the right of the porta-potty at the dividing line between the Village and Holy Name parking areas was chosen. Municipal Building To avoid removing parking spots, the grassy area facing Brook at the end of the row of parking spots was chosen. Maple Commons We were joined by Jeremy Regan. The company is willing to host a Hub, with location TBD. The corner of Maple and Municipal at the park poses some safety concerns. Other spots on the MC footprint raise questions. Another possibility: a front spot in Van Wyck Shopping Center, requiring contact with and agreement from ownership. South Riverside The former Riverside parking spots that were removed next to Capriccio’s raise some safety concerns given that riders would exit directly into traffic. One alternative: Village owned land across the street on Wayne. The Project MOVER team is enthusiastic about bike share in Croton, believe these hubs will work well and are eager to prepare for the spring/summer launch. At the end of our tour, we also looked at some future growth sites, including Senasqua, Lot A, Riverside facing Shoprite, and North Riverside. I hope this is helpful.
