Souvenir of the Revolutionary Soldiers' Monument Dedication at Tarrytown
Abraham Van Wart, father of Lieut. Isaac Van Wart, was the son of Abraham, Sr., and Antie Mey his wife, (she the daughter of Martinas Mey and born in Germany) and bapt. Sept. 19, 1730, his brother Martinas Van Wart, the father of Isaac the Captor, havingbeen bapt. June 26, 1733. Abraham Van Wart, Sr., was the son of Gerridt Van Werdt and Catalyntie his wife, and bapt. at the old Dutch Church., March 21, 1710. Gerrit was probably the son of Martin Van Werdt, the first of the name in this country.
That Martinus Van Wart, the father of Isaac the Captor, was a Patriot Soldier and did some service, is evidenced by the followingtaken from an account of the action at Youngs' House which has been published: "It appears that Captain Roberts with his Company was
