Souvenir of the Revolutionary Soldiers' Monument Dedication at Tarrytown
It was a march of about twenty miles by the shortest route, and they did not reach the vicinity of Young's house until nearly nine o'clock on Thursday morning, Feb. 3d.
Gen. William Heath, in his memoirs, gives substantially all the facts in regard to it. The following is his account : " On the morning of the 3d, about 9 o'clock, the enemy made an attack on Lieut. -Col. Thomson, who commanded the troops on the lines.
