The two former came down the river in barges ; the latter ascended the river in a frigate. Four companies of light infantry performed the duty of guards on this memorable occasion. b

Near the junction of the Albany Post, and Saw Mill river road, is situated the Presbyterian C.iurch, sometimes called by way of distinction, the lower Greenburgh Church. This society was organized on the 11th of April, 1825. Present at its first meeting of the clergy, the Rev. Samuel Robertson, Rev. Mr. Weeks, and the Rev. Mr. Wells, of New Rochelle. Of the members, Perez Jones, Peter Nodine, James Odell, Elizabeth Lefurge, Van Burgh Livingston, and Harriett Livingston.
