A, D. 1700, Ihe Hon. Caleb Heathcote became legtilly seized in fee of the greatest portion of tlie eastermost neck, together with other lands, having in 1696 obtained a patent right from Mrs. Anne Richbell to purchase lands which were already included in her husband's sale of 1660.

On the 21st day of March, 1701, King William III. by letters patent, granted and confirmed inito Caleb Heathcote

" All that tract of land in Westchester county, beginning at a marked tree by Mamaroneck river, which is the eastermost side of the nori hern bounds of ]\Iamaroneck township, being about two miles from the country road and to run along the said river to the head thereof, and thence on a northern line, until eighteen miles from the said marked trees is completed westerdly, at the said marked tree or a great rock ; being the westernmost part of the said northern bounds of the aforesaid township, being about two miles from the said country road, and thence run southerly eighteen miles as the line on the eastermost side of the said land runneth, including therein his eighth part of the two miles laid out from the town of Mamaroneck, with the lot he then lived on, and the lot bought of Alice Hatfield with the land and meadow below, westerly to a path to him belonging by virtue of his deeds and conveyances, part of ^ which lands within the bounds aforesaid was purchased by John Richbell from the native Indian proprietors, which said John Richbell had a grant and confirmation for the same from Colonel Francis Lovelace, Esq.''
