And the Deponent further saith, that he does verily believe that he was in great Danger of his Life from the said Rioters, It having been frequently reported, that the Deponent would be cropt, gelt, and whipped by the said Rioters, and tied up to a Tree with a Gag in his Mouth, ahd so starved to Death, and the Deponent saith, that for the Preservation of his Life, he has been obliged to fly from, and leave his said Farm, and that he is now afraid to return, tho' he conceives his Estate there to be a comfortable Provision for his Family, if he could enjoy it in quiet, he having been at great Labour and Expence in Improvements, and that he should have been reduced, with his Wife and Children, to the greatest Distress, had he aft been relieved by the kindness of his Brother, who had taken him and his Wife and Children into his House at Kinderhook.
