High and Mighty Lords. Your Lordship's despatch of the 1st instant with the annexed petition and papers, presented to your High Mightinesses by the presiding Chamber of Amsterdam, to obtain your High Mightinesses' approval and ratification of the Conditions agreed upon by said Chamber with the Right Worshipful Burgomasters of the City of Amsterdam, for founding of Colonies in New Netherland, was handed to us in due course, and read to our Assembly, and we have therein seen your High Mightinesses' request and requisition, to communicate to your High Mightinesses thereupon our information and advice, which we cannot neglect to send forthwith, together with our rescript, that we, after perusal and examination of said Conditions, cannot judge or find the establishment of such Colonies on this footing and conditions to be otherwise than in the highest degree profitable and advantageous for the Company ; wherefore, we, also, most humbly request your High Mightinesses to be pleased to approve and ratify said Conditions (which are again transmitted herewith), agreeably to the previous petition of the Amsterdam Chamber, so that a commencement of that laudable work may be made before the winter, by the City of Amsterdam, for which the inhabitants of New Netherland, who will be encouraged thereby, are longing with heart and soul, particularly at this present season of difficulty.
