The attempt made by Gill to decoy Bearmore was in King Street where the road to Hogpenridge com- -mences. Bearmore posted a sentry behind the School house which stood near where the Methodist church now is. Gill came down King Street and advanced west to the rising ground on the Hogpenridge road. Bearmore then came on in force from towards Saw pitts and attempted to cut him off, but Gill regained the King Street road, escaping by the fleetness of his horse.
