October 30th Silas Brundage of King Street: "I was born and brought up on the farm on which Lieut. William Mosier drew up his men when he resisted the attack made upon him by Captain Samuel Kipp on the 2nd of December 1781. Merritts corner and retreated under Mosier along the fields to my father's farm. Immediately west of the field of action you descend a hill at the foot and on the south of which is a chestnut tree surrounded by a small grove of locusts. This spot is distant from Merritt's corner a mile and a half or two miles.
