1846 Septr. 7. Major Ebenezer Jessup, of West Port recommended me to talk with Messrs. Hyde, Buckley, Disbrow, Dyck- -man, Mrs. Couch, &c. The British crossed the Saugatuck upwards of a mile above the Old Bridge. The people about here were all soldiers.
