Plate I: Jeffreys Hook, Fort Washington Point — Bolton (1922)
Photograph of Jeffreys Hook, now known as Fort Washington Point, at the northern tip of Manhattan (Station 14, Map I). This rocky promontory where the Little Red Lighthouse now stands was a key landmark on the indigenous trail system. The Lenape used this narrow point to cross the Hudson River to the Palisades.
