Photograph of rock shelters used by the Lenape at the Inwood village site of Shorakapkok (Station 16, Map V). These natural overhangs in the Manhattan schist provided shelter for indigenous peoples for thousands of years. Artifacts found here date back to the Archaic period. Photograph by W. L. Calver.
