Catawba Grape — Grapes of New York (1908)

Photographic plate of the Catawba grape from Ulysses Prentiss Hedrick's 'The Grapes of New York' (1908). Catawba was one of the two main varieties grown by Robert Underhill at his Croton Point vineyard. The grape, originally from the Catawba River valley in North Carolina, thrived in the Hudson Valley climate and produced a popular light wine.
