Penn Central ACMUs (electric multiple units) at the Croton-Harmon railroad yards in 1976. Croton-Harmon has been the electric changeover point for trains entering New York City since 1913, when the New York Central Railroad established it as the boundary between steam/diesel operation upstate and electric operation on the approach to Grand Central Terminal.
