Joint Committee on Standards for Graphic Presentation (1915)

Willard Cope Brinton chaired this committee, which produced the first American standards for how statistical charts should be drawn. The 1915 committee report — published in Publications of the American Statistical Association — became a foundational document in the history of data visualization.
